Rick had a successful 25 plus year career as an executive leader at Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, and Varian Associates prior to starting Futurity. He’s led teams to incubate and launch new businesses, products, information services, and manufacturing systems. Rick has also advised Fortune 500 companies on business strategies and architectural approaches to leverage digital technology for competitive advantage, resulting in a patent in this area. Rick is a former naval officer, with decorated service on a Trident missile submarine. He earned a Masters in Engineering Management at Stanford.

Personal Highlights
I have a (now 40 year long…) love affair with a beautiful woman named Trish. For the last 20 or so of those years we’ve lived in a house we built together on Bainbridge Island (a short ferry ride west from Seattle across the Puget Sound) where we raised (and are still raising some of) our seven children and are deeply involved in our community and local church. Nearly 10 years ago we adopted our three youngest children, an intact group of siblings, from Donetsk Ukraine, and it’s been a wild ride as we’ve grown together as a family. When I’m not in the middle of all of that I’m reading a book, cooking or building something in my wood shop, working my vegetable garden or out for a run, bike ride or a backpack trip in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
