My clients tell me they are frustrated. They feel some time pressure to achieve significant results. They are humble enough to know they don't have all the answers. I coach and challenge these ambitious CEOs and their leadership teams. Thirsty learners with a big vision for their businesses, viewing 30-40% compound annual growth as healthy and fun.
I believe these business leaders are looking to me for three things; process, experience, and expertise. I have first-hand knowledge of the impact of applying a proven method in business, delivering rapid, sustainable growth. Delivering revenue growth from zero to £30m in 5 years, twice. My experience and expertise are in the technology sector as a managing director, global exec, business owner, non-executive director, and business coach.
I aim to offer founders, owners, and CEOs a range of perspectives and options as their research partner. I am helping them work through their challenges and finding the answer to the big question that today seems beyond reach. I help business leaders to Scale Up from the purpose build Management Lab on the farm near Salisbury.
I have had the privilege to build two businesses that survived and thrived beyond my direct involvement – how does that feel? I feel proud.
Professional Highlights
I had early flirtations with hospitality, retail, pharma, and bling before falling into technology.
I then founded and Scaled Up two IT service firms in the UK. As managing director, I took Rackspace and then Peer 1 Hosting to £30m, both in 5 years. Scaling Up the firms from zero to 150 and 120 employees, respectively. At Peer 1, we grew global revenue from $90m to $200m and exited for $635m. The tools I used in these endeavors now form the basis of my technology business coaching practice; helping other IT firms to scale up sustainably and without drama.
Personal Highlights
When not helping technology firms scale up, you will find me on our Wiltshire farm with my wife Geri and our two little girls, Allegra and Araminta. We keep some rare breed cattle and pigs along with the curious chickens and noisy geese.
